Every time I compose one of these “how to” pieces I contract a little bit- mostly because it feels arrogant to suggest that I know anything about YOUR healing path. I always see therapeutic relationships as partnerships where YOU (the healer) bring the expertise of knowing what it’s like to be you, and the practitioner (the role I commonly play) brings the expertise of having worked with thousands of people who are not you. The birds eye view that an experienced practitioner brings is incredibly valuable, but without the expertise you bring to the table, the practitioner’s knowledge and perspective is useless.
With that said, please don’t mistake these “how to” pieces as my belief that I know what you need.
One of the few things I’m absolutely certain of is that healing requires humility in both parties.
There will always be a mysterious intelligence at play that neither of us understands.
The intent of these “how to” pieces is to share a perspective, tools and practices that have benefitted my clients so that you can try them on and determine which ones best support you.
